Horse owners seeking information on basic horse management will have an opportunity to attend a day-long program focusing on just that at the 7th Horse Management 101 Workshop on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Texas A&M University.
This workshop will be held at the Louis Pearce Pavilion on the campus of Texas A&M University. This location will allow for hands-on approach to some of the workshop topics. Horse owners will be able to gain experience covering general horse nutrition, equine genetics and feeding management will be covered. Hay and pasture selection and quality will be included.
This workshop will include information on general health, immunizations and deworming. Permanent identification, first aid, dentistry and hoof care will also be covered. Additional topics will be facility design and equipment and basic management tools. Resource material related to horse theft awareness and prevention will be offered.
Instruction will be provided by equine faculty from both the Equine Science Section of the Animal Science Department and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
You must pre-register to attend the workshop. Registration includes printed materials, light breakfast and noon meal. Program begins at 8:00 a.m. with registration. The cost for this Equine Owner Education Workshop is $50. A light breakfast, lunch and printed materials will be provided.
