The 6th Annual Turfgrass Ecology & Management Short Course is a continuing education program designed for professionals caring for turfgrasses in a broad range of management systems (sports turf, lawn care, golf turf, parks and municipal lawns/recreation areas, and sod production). New professional turfgrass managers can learn basic and practical information while experienced managers are provided the opportunity to review and update their knowledge.

Twelve Texas A&M University faculty draw upon their expertise to address turfgrass industry issues, problems, and opportunities in a well-balanced program of 36 contact hours of instruction. Topics include: turfgrass growth and development; turfgrass identification; soils: physical, chemical, and biological properties; modifying soils - amendments; grass adaptation, selection, and use; seed, sod, and spring establishment; water management, quality, and conservation; mowing management; common calculations; nutrient management and fertilizer programs; cultivation, topdressing, and thatch; winter overseeding; pesticide laws, regulations, and safety; integrated pest management; turfgrass weed, disease, and insect ID and control; environmental issues; industry issues; turf stress management; and practical problem-solving.

The registration fee includes "Turfgrasses: Their Management and Use in the Southern Zone" as the text, a notebook chocked full of reference materials; certificate of completion; four lunches, and morning and afternoon refreshments.
